The Portland Eco Trust
is a voluntary based organisation supported by in principal the Port of Portland and other environmentally aware and committed sponsors dedicated to making that little bit of difference in our environment, our community and our sustainable thinking.

Objectives of the Portland Eco Trust

The Eco Trust is initiated by the Port of Portland and its founding members to improve our living environment and for the creation of new facilities for both locals and tourist to enjoy. The Eco Trust is to help preserve and enhance our greatest assets.

Working for and with the community the Eco Trust will:

¨ Support projects to deliver improved coast access, cleaner beaches and better recreational facilities specifically for the enjoyment of the environment

¨ Provide native animal protection; and

¨ Create environmental awareness

¨ Seek community involvement through local government, service groups, locals and tourists

Targets - what our directions are

¨ The Trust will be targeted towards:

¨ Community focused projects

¨ Coastal re-vegetation

¨ Weed control along coastal fringes

¨ Beach cleaning

¨ Native animal protection

Scope:

¨ Marine water, coastal areas (Glenelg Shire)

¨ Estuarine areas (Glenelg Shire would include Woolwash, Mt Clay and the Glenelg River)

¨ Other significant ecological projects
